                                          Summer Reading Response

The book The Maze Runner by James Dashner is about a boy named Thomas that ends up in a place where he is trapped among with other guys his age called Gladers and has to get out of this maze an organization puts him in called WICKED. This book is mostly about survival and how you have to face your fears to make it through. Thomas has to put up with some challenges like fighting with these monsters called Grivers that are very dangerous and scary while trying to get along with some of these other Gladers. Throughout this book survival takes place and puts not only Thomas but the other Gladers to the test.

For example, Thomas and the Gladers have to survive and over come obstacles like Grivers and suppling themself with food and with shelter. In the book it mentions the Gladers receving supplies from WICKED. However WICKED doesn't  supply them with what they all need, the Gladers need to create systems to get other foods like meat and fruits. They created stations in which certain people worked in and they built trust throughout this process so that they can rely on each other. They ended up having shelters and house where they were safe. Or so they thought.

Although the Gladers thought they were safe inside the maze the Creators thought it was time to put them to the test. Not only did they have to try to supply themselves, but they had to protect eachother from the Grivers. Gladers had a group called Runners in which they explore the maze and try to find a way out. At the same time the Runners had to stay away from the Grievers that could sting them making them go crazy. Thoughout this most of the Gladers did survive and made it to the next trials which is further explained at the end of the book.

Survival seemed imposible but the Gladers did make it though. The Maze Runner was mostly about getting through these tests and surviving not only from monsters but also from each other. Chaos and order take place in this book because the Glader established a civilization or a way to survive even though they don't know how or why they were brought here.
