The Scorch Trials
Have you ever felt hate or was really bother by what someone or others did to you? Then you can relate to the character Thomas in the book The Scorch Trials by James Dashner. Throughout the book his feelings about WICKED have changed, from good to bad. Thomas´s feelings about wicked changes from disapproving WICKED to feeling disgusted and aversion toward them. Throughout the book Thomas hears different ideas and concepts about WICKED and why they are put through these trails.
For example, Thomas was very new to WICKED and didnt have much hate for them as he does now. Thomas´s first idea about WICKED was that they put him and his friends there so that they can torcher them. However, he later learns that they are part of an experiment to help save the human race. WICKED- stands for World In Catastrophe, Killzone Experiment Department is a group of goverment people who have come together to find a cure for a disease called the Flare which kills and attacks your brain, slowly making you crazy. Before the scorch trails the Gladers weere put in a maze by WICKED and were left to survie and find a way out. Ever since then they never trusted or believe WICKED. The book states ¨We exist for one purpose and one purpose only: to save the world from a catastrophe. You here in this room are a vital part of what we plan to do¨ and also mentions ¨they´ve combined forces to créate WICKED- a group ment to fight the new problems of theis world. You are a big part of that fight¨. This is what Thomas first hears about WICKED other than what he was told in the Maze trials. Here he doesnt really have an entire concept of WICKED and only knows the bad things they did to him and his friends; This is why he doesnt trust them.
Throughout the scorch trails Thomas and the other Gladers are put through a series of tests which were all created by them. Some tests contain Cranks-who are people who have been fully consummed by the Flare, storms, and rivals. Even though the Gladers were brave and strong they did drop numbers along the way, losing friends and group members making them have only one person to blame: WICKED. They started wondering if WICKED is even someone to trust, after what they did to them how were they suppose to trust what they said. This made Thomas question why they were doing this. In the book it states ¨To face whatever WICKED had in store for them. But he´d do it – and not just to get a cure. He would never stop, especially now. Not after what they´d done to him and his friends. If tthe only way to get back at them was to pass alll their tets and trials then so be it¨ and also ¨WICKED is some kind of orgainization that´s doing a whole load of nasty things to us for some reason¨. What WICKED has done to him really effected him and it was so impactful that he would get revenge.
Around the end of the scorch trails Thomas starts to realize that what WICKED is doing is way too much and how is this all connected to the cure of the Flare. Thomas realizes that it´s unfair how WICKED is making his friends suffer and wants to put a stop to it. A great example comes from the book when it mentions ¨All he felt was anger and shame. How could anything justofy what they´d done? What WICKED- what they-were doing? Through he certainly didnt think of himself very much anymore. He wasnt sure when he´d reached this turning point. But something had cracked within him¨ After all that he has been through he was very much annoyed and started feeling hatred towards WICKED.
In conclusion, Thomas´s feelings changed fron not accepting WICKED to really loathing them and wanting them to pay for puting them through these trials. Throughout the book and Trial Thomas has had many friends give in there opinión on WICKED and they all have to do with the trials to save the human race.

I enjoyed your hook, not only did i want to know more about the book, but the character which you did a excellent job explaining about. Your really changed the aspect of your response in a good way, by having so many quotes. I learned how to elaborate and use quotes just from your response. The last note is you made me want to read the book. You gave such strong details that I wanted to know more about the book. This was outstanding!
ReplyDeletei love how each one of your paragraphs, not including the conclusion put me into the book and made me feel like i was watching a movie.
